Weeping Willow was an abstract piece that spoke to the feelings felt when my dog Coffee passed away after a 17 year relationship. The piece starts with two figures standing, arms up, forming a set of large eyes. The pupils moved as an old dogs walks across stage. After her final breath, a blue figure graces the stage to shroud the body and help sooth the stunned eyes. The main figures (myself and Nathalie) pull apart and reveal the long streams of tears pouring down. They sways in a self soothing motion, and eventually move towards the loved one.
"Topiary" begins with a dandy strolling through formal British gardens. During his stroll he encounters a tree spirit in the shape of a topiary tree. An unlikely relationship between two worlds begins. The ridicule of other socialites could not sway him from this stirring feeling and attraction. What first appeared as innocent and pure turns into a near fatal attraction. The tree stole just enough from the other world to break itself out of the confines of the meticulously groomed garden.
